How to Scare a Bug Away--An Experiment

My girls have postulated the theory that since bugs scare them and make them run away, maybe they could scare the bugs and make the bugs run away instead. Here's my interview with Big Sissy, the famous Bug Scarer, on this theory. The interview is 28 seconds long, but I couldn't figure out how to edit the video. Sorry.

We conducted an experiment to test this hypothesis. Here is a spider before being scared.

Here is the same spider after being scared.

The beauty of science is that research is important (and worthy of publishing) even if one's theory proves false. Big Sissy and her assistant, Little Sissy, will be conducting further experiments to confirm these findings.

No wonder your kids have so much fun -- you're just a kid at heart!

Oh wow, Big Sissy is a very good investigator.... if you have any more bugs, don't call us, Asher is much more afraid than you are! :)

I am cracking up at Big Sis's ideas and alternate ideas of how to scare the bug. What great little scientists!

Does Big Sissy take care of dead bugs? I have a dead cricket under my chair. I was brave enough to try to pick it up b/c it was laying there for two hours not moving- dead, right? Not so much- it jumped and now it's been sitting here for like six hours. Not kidding! That's how much I hate crickets.

By the way- how are the canker sores? I now have three! (but the other one went away after Anamaye's mystery creme :)

Cute! Apparently Little Sissy thinks that mosquitos qualify as one of the "bad bugs!"

I'm not sure they could be any cuter.
