Bra Burning

Disclaimer: If you are a boy and have no desire to hear about bras, you might want to skip this post. I'm just sayin'...

I'm done with nursing bras..forever and for always (singing Shania Twain song). I want to burn them. Oh, I do. But I've invested a lot of money in them (as has my dear mother who has bailed me out more than once), and they're still in good shape despite the fact that I've been wearing them for 5 years now.

The problem is that I can't think of a graceful way to give them away.

"Wow. You're looking like you could use a new bra" doesn't seem flattering.

"What size are those getting to be? 'cuz I've got some Big Mama bras I could give you" sounds too personal.

Trust me. I don't need one more reason to be awkward. I guess I'll let them hang out in my closet with my other abandoned unmentionables and let my family bumble through the decision after I pass.

Unless you have some other ideas for me.

In the meantime, I am taking my next paycheck (I mean my husband's next paycheck) and buying something CUTE. I'm pretty sure he will approve of this wise use of our resources. And I'm wearing a dress every Sunday for the whole summer just because I can. OK, so I'm a little sad about this phase passing but....oh look. I think I'm getting over it.

Oh girl, you made me laugh so hard! I feel the same way, even though I'm still nursing and can't give it up. I do loathe the nursing bras though, unless I'm sleeping in them. I finally got some "real" bras-Ipex or Apex at V.S.-and they are great for during the day. They were on sale and I love them.

So does that mean Little Buddy is "done with" nursing then? Congrats!

Yup, we're 2 days momma-free. It's still not natural for either of us. I bribe him with a banana the second he wakes up (2nd best), then after a while he forgets. It will get easier soon...

Ok, now I'm TOTALLY recommending the Spanx shoulder to thigh support garment for you. It's a little pricey, but so worth it. I didn't want to push it while you were nursing, because the little "privacy slit" is the only way you can take care of any natural business at all without disrobing. Also, being "full figured" as I am, I swear by the LeMystere Tisha Dream Bra, available on-line or at Ann's Bra Shop. Enjoy your newfound freedom! (Also, the Goodwill would be happy to get your bras.)

Oh, so very funny! And I remember it all too well. But getting pregnant with #2 while I was still nursing #1 convinced me to THROW THOSE BRAS AWAY! But yours are probably in better shape than mine were...

I was the same way with my "pregnant shoes," the ONLY pair of shoes that still fit me at the end of my pregnancy with #1. I threw those away, too!

So I'm wondering...if I knew someone who might be interested in said bras...

LOL. I enjoy breastfeeding, but loathe the bras! They are almost as evil as pantyhose, in my opinion. Would you believe that for the 5+ years I've been breastfeeding, I only wear sports bras? I say enjoy the bonfire!
